I like games. While I won’t classify myself as a “gamer” with shiny and expensive gaming PC set-up, I find certain joy in playing games and devotes considerable amount of time playing the games I currently enjoy the most, may it be a board game, a mobile game, or a console game. As a teacher, I do believe we can learn from games so I encourage teachers to explore the concepts of game-based learning and gamification.
As a starting point, these books may be of help (note: the list will be regularly updated too):
Rules of Play by Katie Salen Tekinbaş and Eric Zimmerman
Gamification in Learning and Education: Enjoy Learning Like Gaming by Kim, S., Song, K., Lockee, B., Burton, J.
Choosing and Using Digital Games in the Classroom: A Practical Guide by Katrin Becker
The Art of Game Design by Jesse Schell
For the Win: How Game Thinking Can Revolutionize Your Business by Kevin Werbach & Dan Hunter
Happy Gaming & Reading! 🙂
